Tengrinews.kz - A resident of Shymkent has been convicted of promoting terrorism and inciting murder, citing the press service of the National Security Committee (NSC).
According to the report, the city court sentenced him to 7 years in prison.
“As part of a criminal case investigated by the NSC, it was established that he encouraged those around him to commit murders and justified violence on religious grounds,” the statement says.
Additionally, based on NSC materials, two individuals were sentenced to 7 and 6 years in prison by the courts of the Atyrau and Aktobe regions for promoting terrorism among religious believers. Both had previous convictions for general criminal offenses and attempts to travel to areas of terrorist activity. The verdicts have entered into legal force.
“Since the beginning of this year, 52 individuals, including two foreign nationals, have been convicted of terrorist and extremist crimes in criminal cases investigated by the NSC. Investigations are ongoing against another 52 individuals,” the statement concludes.
Earlier, the NSC shut down the activities of a group in Uralsk suspected of extorting money from entrepreneurs.
