Tengrinews.kz – The National Security Committee (NSC) has shut down the activities of a group in Uralsk suspected of extorting money from entrepreneurs.
The operation was conducted on June 10. Eight Kazakh citizens were detained, two of whom have been taken into custody by court order.
“The actions of these individuals had a negative impact on the region’s business community. During the searches, large sums of money and other physical evidence were seized,” the NSC reported.
A pre-trial investigation is underway under Article 194 of the Criminal Code (Extortion). Further details are not subject to disclosure in accordance with Part 1, Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
