Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population commented on the initiative to introduce a new public holiday.
The ministry stated that the approval of new public holidays is beyond its authority and requires coordination at the government level.
"The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population issued a response within its area of competence. However, this response does not represent the consolidated position of the government, as the approval of new public holidays requires interdepartmental review and approval at the government level, as well as amendments to the Law 'On Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan'," the ministry said in response to an official inquiry from Tengrinews.kz.
The ministry added that the request from Mazhilis deputy Kenzhegul Seitzhan is currently under government consideration.
"A final decision on the approval of the new public holiday will be made after all necessary procedures are completed in accordance with the established procedure," the Ministry concluded.
