Tengrinews.kz - Deputy Prime Minister Yermek Kosherbayev has announced that Kazakhstan is training more specialists to work with children with special needs.
According to Kosherbayev, there is currently a high demand for professionals such as special education teachers, speech therapists, neuropsychologists, and social educators. 17 universities in the country are involved in training specialists in special education.
"For the 2024-2025 academic year, the government has allocated 656 state-funded grants for bachelor’s programs, 150 for master’s programs, and 13 for doctoral studies," Kosherbayev said in response to a parliamentary inquiry.
A total of 62 educational programs have been added to the national registry, including:
- Special pedagogy (special education),
- Support for children with autism spectrum disorders,
- Education for the visually impaired (typhlopedagogy),
- Inclusive education,
- Early intervention pedagogy,
- Ergo-pedagogy, among others.
Additionally, new specializations have been added to the national professional standard for special education, including:
- Early intervention educator,
- Ergo-pedagogue
- Educator for children with communication and social adaptation difficulties,
- Educator for children with delayed mental development and learning difficulties.
