New changes in Kazakhstan's traffic rules: what has changed in December?

The updates include revised penalties for the following violations:
- Failing to use daytime running lights: According to Article 602, Part 1 of the Administrative Offences Code, a warning will be issued for the first offense. For repeat violations within a year, the fine is set at 5 MCI (monthly calculation indices).
- Exceeding the speed limit by 60 km/h or more: Stricter administrative penalties have been introduced, with a fine of 40 MCI for the first offense (Article 592, Part 3-1, Administrative Offences Code). A repeat violation within a year will result in a fine of 60 MCI.
- Driving without a valid license: Individuals who have not obtained a driver’s license and are caught driving, especially under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants, will be prohibited from taking the licensing exam for seven years (Clause 2-1 of Article 74 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Road Traffic"). This restriction also applies to those who refuse to undergo a medical examination.
"Almaty police once again remind everyone to strictly adhere to traffic rules, improve discipline, and show respect for other road users. Always remember the well-known axiom: the road does not forgive mistakes," said Lieutenant Colonel Askhat Kulbayev, head of the Administrative Police Department of Almaty.
