Tengrinews.kz - The akim (governor) of the Almaty region, Marat Sultangaziev, shared details about the construction of a glass suspension bridge over Charyn Canyon.
During a briefing at the Central Communications Service, journalists asked the governor about the relevance of building such a bridge over the Black Canyon in the Almaty region.
"Development is always relevant. This project allows us to grow tourism and attract additional visitors. Today, tourism has become one of the key areas for the development of our region. Out of 102 significant tourist sites in Kazakhstan, 10 are located in our region. That’s why new tourism facilities are very important to us, and we support them," Sultangaziev said.
According to the governor, the project is being initiated by a private Kazakhstani company, but foreign firms experienced in constructing such bridges will act as contractors.
"From the standpoint of safety and environmental impact, there is no reason for concern. At the same time, we will work with the relevant authorities to obtain the necessary permits. Overall, the region is highly interested in this project," he emphasized.
The governor added that the construction of the bridge is essential to attract high-quality tourism to Kazakhstan.
"This is a tourist bridge. A glass bridge provides incredible emotions and sensations as you walk across the canyon - almost like walking on air. As you can see, such infrastructure is quite developed abroad. To attract tourists, especially high-quality tourists, nature alone is no longer enough. Service and infrastructure are needed, along with photo zones, because everything is now advertised through social media," Sultangaziev concluded.
Earlier, Almaty’s akim Erbolat Dossaev announced the active realization of the large-scale greening program for Almaty as part of the implementation of the President's instruction to revive it as a garden city.
