Tengrinews.kz - Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Timur Suleimenov was asked who manages the family budget in his household and whether he has noticed rising food prices in the country.
“In our family, most of the budgeting is handled, naturally, by my wife. She’s currently on maternity leave, so she has more time, and she understands these things better – where to buy, what to buy, how to do it cheaper, whether to go in person or order online,” Suleimenov said.
He noted that this reflects both the Kazakhstani mentality and long-standing traditions, where women typically take care of the household.
“I think that’s normal. Of course, we keep track of expenses – it’s not like we’re completely unaware of what’s going on. But we don’t do things like ask every day, ‘How much did you spend? What kind of milk did you buy? What fat percentage?’ That would be excessive. I believe this is a reasonable division of roles and a good way to allocate resources within a household economy,” he added.
Earlier, Timur Suleimenov shared the forecast for the base rate for 2025.
