Tengrinews.kz - Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Timur Suleimenov has shared the forecast for the base rate for 2025.
According to Suleimenov, the base rate is expected to remain at 16.5 percent throughout the year.
“It’s quite difficult to keep the rate exactly at 16.5 percent. But our projections show that the base rate should stay at this level for at least all of 2025,” he said.
He noted that current economic conditions call for a tight monetary policy.
“Of course, these are forecasts based on model practices, and many things could change—both domestically and in the external macroeconomic environment. But as of now, based on the latest forecast round that concluded today, we expect the base rate to remain at this level or possibly tighter in 2025,” Suleimenov stated.
Earlier today, the National Bank announced its decision to keep the base rate unchanged at 16.5 percent.
