Artur Gaiduk, amateur astronomer and founder of the Astro Astana project, shared his opinion with Tengrinews.kz. He expressed doubt about the video’s authenticity, suggesting it could be edited to gain attention online.
“With today’s AI and video editing tools, you can create just about anything. If I saw it myself or someone I trust did, that would be different. But when it comes to videos like this circulating on social media, it’s hard to believe they’re genuine.
These kinds of videos create hype, drive engagement, comments, and subscriptions. I think that’s the whole point. That was my first impression. Also, an object like this wouldn’t go unnoticed—it would be picked up by radars and tracking systems. Air traffic over the city is constantly monitored,” Gaiduk said.
Another perspective was offered by amateur astronomer Murat Sieubaev.
“It could be caused by architectural lighting. The light reflects off the lower cloud layer. It’s a play of light and shadows,” he suggested.
