Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population has issued an appeal to Kazakhstanis in South Korea.

The Ministry reminded that citizens of Kazakhstan who are in South Korea in violation of migration laws may voluntarily leave the country without fines and without a ban on re-entry until the end of February 2026.

As the agency clarified, agreements to extend the voluntary departure program were reached in 2025 during negotiations with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea. The parties discussed measures to reduce illegal migration and to protect the rights of Kazakh citizens.

The measures taken are aimed at mitigating legal consequences for migrants and supporting those who are ready to regularize their status. At the same time, the program does not apply to persons who have committed criminal offenses, are subject to forced deportation, or to foreigners who found themselves in an irregular situation after December 1, 2025.

To participate in the program, one must have a valid passport, submit an application for voluntary departure, and purchase an air ticket. Advance notice must be filed through South Korean immigration offices between 15 and 3 days before the departure date.

The Ministry emphasized that citizens of Kazakhstan should seek employment abroad strictly on a legal basis. This makes it possible to avoid the risks of illegal migration, deportation, fines, restrictions of rights, and potential cases of labour exploitation.

It is also recommended to use only official and trustworthy employment channels, including licensed private employment agencies, state programs, and direct offers from employers.
