Tengrinews.kz - Flight delays are observed at Aktau Airport due to the closure of the runway.
Delays at Aktau Airport continue as the runway remains closed. According to Air Astana's press service, as of 6:00 AM on February 28, the runway closure has been extended until 12:00 PM due to ice formation.
"Since February 27, 12:00 PM, the runway has been closed for clearing operations due to unfavorable weather conditions. As a result, flights KC 859 and 860 to/from Aktau have been delayed. On February 28 at 6:00 AM, the closure was extended again until 12:00 PM due to icing, which may lead to further delays and cancellations of flights to/from Aktau. Please check your flight status on the Air Astana website or app.
The airline regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers due to circumstances beyond our control. Passengers waiting at the terminals have been provided with drinks and meals. Those from out of town have been accommodated in a hotel," the airline's statement said.
According to the online departure board, flights to Almaty, Baku, Astana, and Atyrau are delayed, as well as incoming flights from Shymkent, Almaty, Astana, Baku, and Atyrau.

Passengers are advised to monitor updates and check the latest flight schedules on the airline’s official website.
Earlier, Aktau Airport temporarily suspended arrivals and departures due to a combination of adverse weather conditions and scheduled maintenance. According to an official statement, the runway will be closed from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time.
