Major crash involving a burning car paralyzed Al-Farabi Avenue in Almaty

What happened

Readers are sending photos and videos from the scene of the accident on Al-Farabi Avenue. According to eyewitnesses, three cars collided on the morning of November 25. One of them caught fire after the impact, and there are injured individuals.

Official police comment

According to the Almaty Police Department, the accident happened at 07:00 AM in the Bostandyk district.

“The driver of a Toyota, driving along Al-Farabi Avenue, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a Lexus. After the collision, a Hyundai crashed into the Lexus, which was standing still after the first impact,” police reported.

The department noted that the Toyota caught fire after the collision.

“As a result of the accident, the driver and passenger of the Toyota, as well as the driver of the Lexus, sustained bodily injuries,” the police added.
