Tengrinews.kz - Lufthansa flight LH648 from Frankfurt to Almaty was forced to turn around over the Black Sea and return to its departure airport.
According to airline representatives, the decision to return was made due to adverse weather conditions at the destination.
"We confirm that yesterday’s LH648 flight Frankfurt – Almaty – Astana – Frankfurt returned to Frankfurt after three hours of flight due to severe weather conditions (heavy snowfall and freezing rain) and forecasts for Almaty and Astana. All passengers will be rebooked on alternative flights. The safety of our flights is our highest priority," a Lufthansa spokesperson stated.
Flight tracking data from FlightAware shows the flight departed Frankfurt with a delay of 1 hour and 34 minutes and landed back at its departure airport with a total delay of 2 hours and 10 minutes.
