Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan may tighten penalties for illegally registering individuals in apartments, Vice Minister of National Economy Bauyrzhan Omarbekov said.
On March 5, Mazhilis deputies passed in the first reading amendments regulating the registration of residents in apartments in the capital. These changes will lead to amendments in the Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO).
On the sidelines of the Mazhilis, journalists asked for clarification on what exactly would change in the legislation.
"As of now, the CAO stipulates a fine of 10 MCI (39,300 tenge in 2025) for violations related to registration and temporary residence. Under the draft law, we propose doubling this penalty. If approved, the fine could be increased to 20 MCI (78,600 tenge). This will apply to property owners who violate the law," said Bauyrzhan Omarbekov.
Employees of Public Service Centers (PSCs) who falsify documents and register more residents than permitted in a single apartment may face criminal liability.
"This would fall under a different category of responsibility, potentially even criminal liability for PSC employees if document falsification is involved," the vice minister noted.
It is worth mentioning that the exact permissible number of residents per apartment was not specified during the plenary session. This matter will be decided by the Astana maslikhat, which will be granted the necessary authority.
