Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov meets Board of Directors of Nazarbayev University

May 26, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov met the Board of Directors of Nazarbayev University, Massimov reported on his Facebook account. The meeting focused on cooperation with strategic partners and on the University’s social policies. When speaking at the sitting of the Foreign Investors Council May 18, President Nazarbayev called the Council’s members to invest into the University’s development. May 17 in Astana LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Nazarbayev University Aslan Sarynzhipov signed a memorandum of cooperation. According to the document, the sides will be implementing joint sponsorship and charity projects to facilitate education and research. Besides, the parties have agreed to work out a joint scholarship program to assist the brightest students and raise qualifications of the teaching staff. May 13 Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov had a talk with Russian tycoon, President of the Skolkovo Foundation Viktor Vekselberg, to discuss cooperation with Skolkovo, seen as Russia's attempt to create a version of Silicon Valley. Nazarbayev University – named after Kazakhstan’s president, Nursultan Nazarbayev – will teach only in English, and at the early stage all of its professors will be foreigners. The school is working closely to develop its programs of study with elite foreign universities.
