Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstani social media users are complaining about the poor broadcast quality of the Kairat vs. Real Madrid match. The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development has responded to the issue.
The match
Yesterday, a historic Champions League group stage match took place at Central Stadium in Almaty, where Kairat hosted Real Madrid for the club’s first-ever home game at this stage of the tournament.
A large portion of Kairat fans couldn’t buy tickets — they sold out in just a few hours. Many opted to watch the game from home or in cafes and restaurants, preparing club scarves, jerseys, and flags. The festive mood was felt even before kickoff. However, from the first minutes of the match, complaints started appearing on Threads about the quality of the broadcast on some Kazakhstani TV channels.
Even this morning, social media users continue to share their impressions of the match and the broadcast.
What the ministry says
The Ministry's press service commented on the complaints about the broadcast:
“During the online broadcast of the Kairat – Real Madrid match, a technical failure occurred on the Kazakhstan TV and Radio Corporation (TRC) platform due to an overwhelming number of users. Websites like qazaqstan.tv, qazsporttv.kz, as well as apps like BeeTV, TV+, and others were temporarily inaccessible,” the ministry told us.
They clarified that broadcasts via terrestrial, satellite, and cable TV were functioning normally.
“The failure of the online platform caused an overload of related services provided by Kazteleradio and telecom operators.
The number of connections to the TRC’s online platform exceeded the estimated capacity of 500,000 users. TRC 'Kazakhstan' is already working on expanding its server capacity and restoring stable service,” the Ministry concluded.
