Tengrinews.kz - A resident of Kostanay imported vapes from the Russian Federation to distribute them throughout Kazakhstan via a Telegram channel, according to the Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA).
The FMA has completed a pre-trial investigation into the importation of vapes, flavorings, and related liquids into the Kostanay region.
"It was found that the Kostanay resident was importing vapes for distribution in Kazakhstan through a Telegram channel he created. The vapes were brought in from the Russian Federation and sold across the country via couriers and postal shipments. The minimum order value started at 100,000 tenge, with payments made only through transfers to a bank card registered to a foreign citizen to conceal the sale of products prohibited for circulation in the country," said FMA representative Alibek Abdilov.
During a search of the suspect's residence, nearly 7,500 vapes valued at about 45 million tenge were discovered and seized.
The court sentenced the individual to one year of restricted freedom with probation. The seized vapes are set to be destroyed.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
