Tengrinews.kz - Police in the Pavlodar region discovered a 54-year-old citizen of Kazakhstan who also held citizenship of a neighboring state, according to Polisia.kz.

Following a court review, the man was expelled from the country.

"The case was reviewed in court, which ruled to expel the resident of the Zhelezin District from our country. The court also imposed a five-year entry ban to Kazakhstan," the statement reads.

Additionally, authorities in Pavlodar identified a citizen who had obtained U.S. citizenship but failed to notify the relevant authorities. The court fined him approximately 800,000 tenge.

It is noted that under Kazakhstani law, citizens of Kazakhstan are not permitted to hold dual citizenship. In 2024, 1,387 individuals in the region were registered as having lost their Kazakh citizenship, with 1,362 of them voluntarily reporting their second citizenship.

Previously, the Border Service of the National Security Committee detained over 90 citizens of Kazakhstan at border crossing points who also held citizenship of another country.
