Tengrinews.kz - In response to the removal of Kazakh music from Meta platforms, authorities are set to modernize the country’s collective rights management system. Justice Minister Yerlan Sarsembayev announced that artists will soon have access to a digital platform to monitor the usage of their works.
Speaking at a government meeting, Sarsembayev noted that last year’s incident highlighted flaws in collective rights management.
"Many well-known artists and performers reported missing out on royalties for the use of their works on this platform. This underscores the need for digitalization in this area. The plan is to allow artists and other rights holders to track all stages of their work's usage online – from contract signing and royalty collection to distribution and payouts," he stated.
He added that authorities are working on implementing a digital platform with AI-powered analytics and reporting for copyrighted works registered in state databases. Other initiatives include improving search systems for intellectual property, developing a mobile app for artists and rights holders, and expanding integration with government and international information systems.
Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Justice spoke about the negotiations regarding the disappearance of Kazakhstani music from the popular social network Instagram.
