Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan’s Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov has confirmed that foreign citizens have been unable to undergo fingerprinting procedures in recent days because of technical problems.

Journalists informed the minister in the Mazhilis that for the past week, foreigners have faced difficulties completing fingerprinting, which is required for residence permits and other documents.

“Yes, the issue exists. It is due to technical malfunctions. But together with ‘Government for citizens,’ we have taken measures for citizens, and the matter is being resolved,” Sadenov said.

According to him, a simplified procedure is being applied temporarily so that foreigners do not violate their stay conditions.

“We are issuing temporary residence permits, registering people, and collecting their addresses. The fingerprinting will be carried out later to comply with the law,” the minister added.

Earlier, Mazhilis members reviewed a draft law on the ratification of an agreement between Kazakhstan and Armenia regarding a visa-free regime for up to 90 days.
