Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Agriculture will consider introducing restrictions on the import of table eggs, according to a statement from the ministry’s press service.

The Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Trade and Integration, the Union of Poultry Farmers, the Association of Egg Producers, and the Union of Retail Chains [“Sojuz Torgovyh Setej Respubliki Kazahstan”] have signed a memorandum of cooperation to implement measures aimed at stabilizing prices for socially significant food products.

"To protect local producers, the Ministry of Agriculture will consider imposing restrictions on the import of table eggs and, together with the Ministry of Trade and Integration, will take control measures to prevent the sale of 'grey' imported table eggs," the statement reads.

The Union of Poultry Farmers and the Association of Egg Producers have committed to ensuring stable wholesale prices from poultry farms and in their brand stores.

Meanwhile, the Union of Retail Chains will ensure that retail chains comply with the maximum trade markup established by law and prevent any additional fees for selling eggs in this category.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture commented on whether meat prices in Kazakhstan would increase.
