Tengrinews.kz - Details have emerged about potential new international routes for Kazakh travelers.

According to the Ministry of Transport, a Kazakh airline is exploring the possibility of opening new flights to Tokyo and Singapore in the medium term.

It is worth noting that in August 2024, the Civil Aviation Committee announced that Air Astana and Japan Airlines had signed a codeshare agreement. This agreement will allow both airlines to share codes on a new flight from Almaty to Tokyo, planned for spring 2026.

“This document expands air communication opportunities between Kazakhstan and Japan for business and tourism travel, as well as promotes growth in passenger and cargo transportation between the two countries,” the Civil Aviation Committee stated at the time.

However, the Ministry of Transport did not specify the exact launch date for the direct Tokyo flight in response to our inquiry.

Additionally, the ministry noted that Kazakh carriers are considering flights to Paris.

We also asked whether a route to Melbourne is planned. It was revealed that Kazakh airlines do not plan flights to Australia in the near future, and no applications from Australian carriers have been received.
