Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan is celebrating a new professional holiday – Entrepreneurs’ Day.
The date was chosen for a reason: on October 29, 2015, the Entrepreneurial Code of Kazakhstan was adopted. This document unified the legal foundations of entrepreneurial, investment, and competition policy, becoming the cornerstone of the state system for business support.
Growth of entrepreneurs and SME contribution
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, around 2.4 million business entities are registered in the country, employing over 4 million people. The contribution of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to the economy has reached 38.9%.
Business support and financing programs
Since the beginning of the year, more than 2,300 projects have been subsidized, with total loan amounts reaching 312 billion tenge. The volume of subsidies amounted to 125.8 billion tenge.
Over 11,000 people have been trained in the basics of entrepreneurship, and about 109,000 citizens have received business consulting.
Through the SME Guarantee Fund, 1,794 projects have been supported, totaling 311.9 billion tenge, including 170.1 billion guaranteed by the state.
As reported earlier in August, Kazakhstan introduced new professional holidays, according to amendments approved by the Ministry of Labor.
The updated list includes five new professional holidays:
- Day of Artisans of Kazakhstan – July 7;
- Day of Workers in the Sphere of Natural Monopolies – July 9;
- Day of Sanitary and Epidemiological Service Workers – September 15;
