Tengrinews.kz - Kazakh airlines have been advised to avoid Iranian airspace.

On Tuesday, local authorities suspended flights over Iran, Israel, Jordan, and Iraq, prompting airlines to change their routes. Some restrictions were later lifted, and Jordan, Israel, and Iraq reopened their airspace, but the number of flights in the region remains minimal.

The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan commented on the situation and provided recommendations to airlines.

"Due to the worsening situation in the Middle East, Kazakh airlines are advised to avoid Iran and choose alternative routes, as well as to follow the previously issued instructions for flights in this region," said the official representative of the Ministry of Transport, Lyazzat Stamagzieva.

The press service also emphasized that flight times may increase due to the ministry's recommendations.

Air Astana also stated that flights to Dubai will be routed around Iranian airspace.

"The airline Air Astana, following the recommendation of the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan, has decided to avoid Iran and change the flight routes from Astana and Almaty to Dubai, which will increase flight times.

Flights to Jeddah will continue as scheduled but will be reviewed in the event of escalating military activity. The airline will make additional changes to ensure flight safety if necessary," the airline's press service shared.

Notably, some Kazakh citizens reported that their flight could not reach Almaty from Doha. Passengers were offered to fly to Europe.

If a flight is canceled or delayed due to the closure of airspace, passengers should contact the airline directly, regularly check the flight information page on the airline's website or app for updates, and monitor notifications about their flight status via email or SMS.

Recall, on the evening of October 1, Iran launched several hundred ballistic and cruise missiles at Israel. According to the Jerusalem Post, there were about 500. ABC News reported is expected to launch 240 to 250 missiles in two waves. An air alert sounded across the country.
