Iron rod stuck in neck: boy discharged from hospital in Almaty

Tengrinews.kz - A 9-year-old child, from whose neck doctors removed an iron pin, was discharged from hospital in Almaty. The boy's condition has already improved.

"A week of intensive care and care by specialists at the Children's Emergency Medical Centre led to an improvement in the boy's condition. On 9 August he was discharged in satisfactory condition: the stitches were removed, the wounds healed, and the functions of the organs were fully restored. Now the boy is under observation at the local polyclinic," the children's hospital said.

The boy was hospitalized after falling off his bicycle onto a fence. He sustained injuries to his trachea, thyroid gland, lower jaw, and soft tissues of the neck.

Doctors performed a complex surgery to repair the damaged organs and remove a 10-centimeter piece from the boy's body. Surgeons did everything possible to preserve organ function and ensure the child's complete recovery.
