Tengrinews.kz — "No project in the region is possible without active contact with Kazakhstan," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated at the opening ceremony of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum.
The Azerbaijani leader thanked President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the support provided in the reconstruction of Karabakh.
"I am very grateful to President Tokayev for his assistance in rebuilding Karabakh. The Children's Creative Center in Fuzuli is named after the great son of the Kazakh people, Kurmangazy. Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich and I inaugurated this center together, and I am deeply thankful for such support from our brotherly nation in the restoration of the liberated territories," he said.
Ilham Aliyev noted that both countries, situated on the Caspian coast, interact actively, and without these contacts, no project in the region would be feasible.
"At the same time, we are working to expand infrastructure. I know that work is also underway in Kazakhstan to expand port facilities. A joint cooperation format already exists between Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. Very important issues are being discussed—tariffs, digitalization, simplification of procedures, and customs administration," Aliyev emphasized.
The President of Azerbaijan recalled that in 2024, the country signed an agreement with the presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to construct an energy cable along the Caspian seabed.
"Today, its feasibility study is being conducted. Simultaneously, we are discussing the construction of a fiber-optic cable with Kazakhstan. This will contribute to the development of both our countries and a wider geography in the fields of digitalization, artificial intelligence, and databases," Aliyev noted.
The Azerbaijani president also highlighted that certain volumes of Kazakh oil are exported through Azerbaijan.
"In other words, the two countries interact and cooperate closely in this region. We also celebrate Kazakhstan's achievements under its president's leadership. I recently visited the historic city of Turkistan, and what I saw there left a deep impression on me—how carefully the historical heritage is being preserved!" Ilham Aliyev remarked.
The 4th Global Media Forum is currently taking place in the Azerbaijani city of Shusha. This year's theme is "The Mission of Media in Promoting Peace: Restoring Truth and Reviving Trust".
