Tengrinews.kz - On the morning of November 2, residents of the Almaty region felt an earthquake. The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) issued a reminder on how to respond in such situations.
Rescuers emphasize following these 10 simple steps during an earthquake:
- Stay calm and avoid panicking.
- Do not use the elevator or stairs during tremors.
- Move away from furniture, windows, and chandeliers.
- Find a safe shelter: if on upper floors, position yourself in a corner of load-bearing walls.
- Leave the building (in high-rise buildings, only after tremors stop).
- Turn off water, gas, and electricity.
- Grab an emergency kit (prepared in advance).
- Keep a distance from power lines, buildings, and trees.
- Be ready for aftershocks.
- Assist the elderly and people with disabilities.
According to MES, another earthquake was recorded by the seismic network of the "National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research" LLP on November 4 at 4:31 a.m. Astana time.
Previously, the Minister for Emergency Situations, Chyngyz Arynov, announced the creation of the southern "Alatau" base in Almaty to provide shelter in case of a devastating earthquake.
