Tengrinews.kz - Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek reported how much budget funds will be spent on studying the impact of a single time zone on Kazakhstanis.

Answering journalists' questions on the sidelines of the Mazhilis, the head of the department reported that an application from the Ministry of Healthcare has already been received.

"On studying the time zone: an application has arrived, 160 million tenge for a three-year budget, but in reality it will be less, I think, somewhere at least half, about 90-100 million. Why? Because we will announce a competition now. The meeting of the High Science and Technology Commission was held literally yesterday. We will announce a competition, and the National Scientific Council will determine the real cost," Nurbek explained.

Journalists asked how the research will be conducted in general.

"I don't know the algorithm in detail. But now, when the competition is held, we will see. Several institutes will participate. The Institute of Physiology, our Institute of Geography, that is, most likely, not by survey, but some real (research) will be conducted there," summed up Sayasat Nurbek.

Earlier, Minister named the advantages of changing the time.

Recall: A resident of Ust-Kamenogorsk, Serikzhan Akhmetzhanov, has filed a lawsuit in the civil court of Astana against the government of Kazakhstan, demanding that the decision to change the time zone be declared illegal and revoked.

On the night of February 29 to March 1, Kazakhstan switched to a single time zone. Three months later, on June 7, a petition to cancel the time change collected the required 50 thousand signatures.

In August, the Ministry of Trade and Integration announced the final decision regarding the time zone petition. At that time, Minister Arman Shakkaliyev stated that based on substantiated scientific international studies on the positive effects of standard time zones and the absence of evidence of negative health impacts, a decision was made to deny the petition.
