Tengrinews.kz - The Organising Committee of the Olympic Games in Paris has announced strict security measures as the opening of the Olympics is just days away. Local residents are preparing for inconvenience and planning alternative routes, according to Euronews.
Paris and other locations have finalized preparations in cooperation with security agencies. Organising committee head Tony Estanguet stated that security at the Games is an "absolute priority."
"To protect the Olympics, combat divers, canine units, special forces boats, and about 18,000 soldiers, in addition to police and gendarmes, will be involved. Only a 4-kilometre stretch of the Seine, where the opening ceremony will take place, will be guarded by 800 soldiers," the report says.
The operation involves artificial intelligence and high-tech equipment including drones, anti-drone guns and sonar.
Barriers have been installed along the seafront. Parisians working in the centre or near Olympic venues will have to use QR passes to move within the "security perimeter".
"Our country, and Paris in particular, has developed a unique security system. But we have also taken care to create a festive atmosphere. The spectator areas will be a lot of fun," notes Estanguet.
