Tengrinews.kz - A foreign national was detained at Almaty airport after police discovered a suspicious parcel containing illegal substances.

According to the transport police, the discovery was made after an extended investigation at a branch of a logistics company in Almaty.

Upon inspection, the parcel, which had arrived from abroad, contained two jars: one with cannabis extract (hash oil) weighing 895 grams and another with a psychotropic substance, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), weighing 623 grams.

The intended recipient, a foreign national, was detained at Almaty airport. Authorities have launched a pre-trial investigation, and the suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
