Tengrinews.kz – A foreign citizen was detained by police in Almaty for disobeying lawful police orders, according to Polisia.kz.

Patrol officers stopped a BMW with foreign license plates. The driver, a citizen of a neighboring country, refused to comply with the police’s lawful request, locked the doors, and reclined in his seat, pretending to be asleep.

The man's behavior was regarded as a clear act of disrespect for the law and defiance of police orders. It was discovered that the vehicle was registered in a neighboring republic and had repeatedly been involved in serious traffic violations in Almaty. The total amount of unpaid fines reached 404,000 tenge.

The car was impounded and taken to a specialized impound lot. The driver was charged with disobeying police orders. The court sentenced him to 10 days of administrative arrest.

“The law applies equally to everyone, regardless of citizenship, vehicle registration, or driver status. We will respond firmly to such violations. We remind everyone that lawful orders issued by police officers in Kazakhstan must be followed. Any violations will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law,” stated Timur Nogaybayev, Deputy Head of the Local Police Service Department of Almaty.
