Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aibek Smadiyarov has provided an estimate of the number of Kazakh citizens illegally residing in the United States.
According to official data, approximately 3,600 Kazakh citizens are registered with the consular office in the US.
"They are officially registered, and we are aware of their presence in the United States. Their documents are in order. As for illegal migrants... Naturally, we cannot provide an exact number.
Based on our rough estimates, their number could range from a few hundred to several thousand," said Smadiyarov during a press briefing.
Smadiyarov noted that deportations of illegal migrants occur almost daily.
"If someone violates immigration laws, they are subject to deportation. We urge our citizens planning to travel to the US to apply for a visa and enter the country legally. With the policies of the new US administration tightening, we have repeatedly warned our citizens. For those already in the US illegally, we will not be able to help – they are outside the law. What can we do for people who are breaking the law?" Smadiyarov added.
At the end of January, the Foreign Ministry commented on reports regarding the deportation of Kazakh citizens from the US.
