Tengrinews.kz - A flight from Antalya to Astana was forced to make an emergency landing at Erzurum Airport in Turkey after a fight broke out between passengers on board.
According to Haberturk, the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. when an argument between two Kazakhstani women and a foreign couple escalated into a physical altercation.
What happened
Eyewitnesses said the conflict began as a verbal dispute but quickly turned aggressive, resulting in a brawl. The flight crew immediately reported the situation to air traffic controllers, prompting the pilot to request an emergency landing at the nearest airport – Erzurum.
Upon landing, police officers boarded the plane and detained all four individuals involved – three women and one man. For safety reasons, they were separated and taken to different medical facilities for examination before being transferred to a police station.
What’s next
Preliminary reports indicate that the detained passengers filed complaints against each other over bodily harm. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, the airline crew left the disruptive passengers behind and resumed the flight to Astana, arriving safely.
The Astana airport confirmed that the plane landed four hours later than scheduled.
"There was a delay: the plane arrived at 8:04 a.m., although it was supposed to land at 3:55 a.m. local time," airport representatives said.
