Tengrinews.kz - Flight schedules at Astana Airport have changed. Some flights are delayed, while others have been canceled, according to the airport’s press service.
What is happening with the flights
According to the airport, 11 inbound flights to the capital are currently delayed. These include flights from Almaty, Kostanay, Shymkent, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Oral, Kyzylorda, Bishkek, and Omsk.
The press service clarified that the reasons for the delays vary.
“At this time, changes in the flight schedule are being observed at Astana Airport due to weather conditions and airline operational reasons,” the airport press service said.
According to the airport:
- two flights were delayed due to airline operational reasons;
- three flights were delayed because of an aircraft replacement;
- for the remaining flights, the reason was the late arrival of aircraft.
There are also nine outbound flights delayed from Astana. These were scheduled to depart for Shymkent, Petropavlovsk, Semey, Almaty, and Omsk.
The airport explained that some of the delays are weather-related:
- two flights were delayed due to weather conditions in Astana;
- the rest were delayed because of the late arrival of aircraft.
Which flights were canceled
The airport also reported that several flights were canceled. According to the press service:
- three arriving flights were canceled;
- eight departing flights were canceled due to adverse weather conditions in Astana.
“According to the weather forecast, Astana is expected to see partly cloudy skies, occasional snow, blizzards, and fog on March 10. Northwesterly wind at 9–14 m/s, with gusts of 15–20 m/s, and up to 23 m/s in some areas during the day,” the airport said.
The airport recommends checking flight status in advance.
“We ask passengers to check the current status of flights with airlines, as well as follow updates on the airport’s online board,” the press service said.
