Tengrinews.kz – The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aibek Kuantyrov, commented on the death of Kazakhstani citizen Akmaral Mukanova in Egypt.
Kuantyrov, speaking on the sidelines of the Mazhilis, stated that today the body of the deceased will be sent back to Kazakhstan.
“The body is planned to be sent today after all procedures are completed, as far as I know, at the expense of the Egyptian side. The issue of moral compensation has also been resolved. In addition, the insurance company, our Kazakhstani company, which covered the travel insurance, has also been involved. The two citizens who received minor injuries have also returned,” Kuantyrov reported.
Journalists asked if a criminal case had been opened regarding the death of Akmaral Mukanova. The Deputy Minister responded that an investigation is underway, and he was not aware of any criminal case.
“A commission has been set up by the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation. The investigation is ongoing. As for a criminal case, I cannot say because the investigation is still procedural. But I think Kazakhstan will be involved if a more detailed investigation is carried out. In any case, we are keeping this issue under control,” he said.
It’s worth noting that on May 17, a Kazakhstani woman died after a falling advertising board struck her at Sharm El-Sheikh airport. Two other women were injured. According to witnesses, the impact was so strong that the victims were taken away in a state of shock.
The relatives of the deceased, Akmaral Mukanova, have requested assistance in transporting her body and appealed to the people of Kazakhstan.
