According to the minister, Kazakhstan’s airport infrastructure will be modernized over the next three years.
“As noted, the modernization of Astana airport is a priority task. The city akimat is already carrying out the necessary preparatory work, and construction is planned to begin next year,” Sauranbayev said.
The minister noted that the development of airport infrastructure is part of broader efforts to strengthen the country’s transport and logistics potential.
Context
Earlier, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the construction of a new airport in Astana “cannot be delayed.” He instructed that the new air harbor be built as soon as possible.
Late last year, Astana Mayor Zhenis Kassymbek said that the capital’s master plan “includes prospective sites for the possible construction of an air harbor.” On May 15, Deputy Mayor of the capital Yersin Otebayev said they were considering several possible locations at once.
