Tengrinews.kz – According to the Bureau of National Statistics, about five thousand foreigners received residence permits in Kazakhstan in the first quarter of this year, KTK reports.
During the same period, significantly fewer people emigrated from the country — around one thousand.
Kazakhstan is especially attractive to citizens of CIS countries. Over 2,500 Uzbek nationals have found a new home here. Migration from Russia continues as well — 982 Russians received residence permits in the republic.
Kazakhstan also sees a steady inflow of migrants from China, Mongolia, and Turkey. The Bureau noted that, for the second year in a row, most migrants prefer to settle in Almaty, Almaty Region, and Mangystau Region. The majority of new arrivals are young people between the ages of 20 and 44.
