According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the tremors, measuring 5.0 magnitude, were registered at 3:56 PM Astana time, 20 kilometers southwest of the village of Merke in the Zhambyl region.
Social media reports indicate that residents of Taraz felt the earthquake.
It is worth noting that another earthquake was recorded earlier, on the night of March 28, in several districts of the Zhambyl region. The highest intensity of 5 points was registered in the village of Merke in the Merke district.
The village of Kulan in the T. Ryskulov district experienced tremors of 4 points, while the cities of Taraz, Shu, and Kordai, as well as the Moyinkum district, felt weaker tremors of 2 points.
