Tengrinews.kz - A U.S. citizen involved in an incident on a bus in Almaty last fall has not been punished, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has confirmed.
The conflict was caught on camera and widely shared on social media. The footage showed the man occupying two seats with a crate of raspberries beside him. Witnesses claimed he refused to give up his seat for a pregnant woman and verbally insulted other passengers.
"Open your eyes, dumbass. Open your stupid eyes. Fat pig. You're fat," he says in the video.
The Almaly District police department in Almaty conducted an investigation and received the results of a linguistic examination, the MIA said in response to a Tengrinews.kz inquiry. However, the foreigner has not faced any consequences.
"Before the completion of the examination and the receipt of its results, the foreign national left the country. The issue of holding him accountable has been postponed until his return to Kazakhstan," the police stated.
Previously, a foreign national was detained by police in Pavlodar for acting aggressively towards his former partner.
