Tengrinews.kz – Almaty is paralyzed by 10-point traffic jams, leaving commuters stranded at bus stops while taxi prices have skyrocketed.

According to the 2GIS app, congestion in Almaty has reached a 10-point level — the highest since summer.

Crowds of people are waiting for public transport in the rain, and only a few manage to squeeze into the rare, overcrowded buses.

A video shows the intersection of Seifullin and Timiryazev Streets — with cars completely gridlocked up to Al-Farabi Avenue. But almost all of Almaty's streets are in the same condition, based on live traffic maps.

As expected, taxi fares have surged. A trip that used to cost 2,000 tenge now costs up to 8,000 tenge.
