According to the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Committee took administrative measures against the airport in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses.

Staffing decisions after the incident

The airport management also responded to the situation. A disciplinary sanction was imposed on Mehmet Guzel, Senior Vice President for Technical Affairs.

Work to eliminate violations

The airport administration apologized to passengers for the inconvenience caused. Work is currently underway to eliminate the identified shortcomings.

It is specified that all necessary measures are being implemented promptly. The causes of the flooding are expected to be fully eliminated within six months.

The Ministry of Transport emphasized that such incidents will be strictly suppressed. The agency intends to ensure strict control over compliance with civil aviation legislation and the stable operation of aviation infrastructure.

As a reminder, Almaty airport was flooded as a result of heavy rain showers that hit the city on Sunday, May 3. Later, a video was posted online showing airport employees working en masse to deal with the aftermath of the flooding in the security screening and passport control area. According to eyewitnesses, water poured from the roof directly into the building.
