Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan is developing new legal mechanisms to protect airline passengers, according to deputy of the Mazhilis Bakytzhan Bazarbek.
Speaking to journalists in the Majilis, Bazarbek commented on Air Astana's appeal against a court decision to compensate the family of a 12-year-old girl from Uralsk, who was left alone at Astana Airport after being denied boarding.
The deputy noted that the airline has the right to appeal the court’s ruling.
"We are currently working on mechanisms to impose fines on airlines for flight delays. As part of the consumer protection bill, we are developing legal frameworks for reviewing and investigating airlines, as well as airport management," said Bazarbek.
Recall that on July 21, 2024, 12-year-old Zere was not allowed to board a Fly Arystan flight from Astana to Uralsk. She was scheduled to travel with her twin sister to reunite with their parents but was left behind at Astana Airport.
Аir carrier will be responsible for all flight changes in Kazakhstan
