Tengrinews.kz - Mass death of saigas was recorded in the Ulytau region. The regional akimat (local government administration) commented on the situation.
Earlier, a horrifying video appeared online with hundreds of carcasses of dead saigas on the Kengir reservoir.

The regional akimat explained that the saigas died as a result of the winter death and from attacks by stray dogs.
"As a result of the work carried out, more than 660 saiga carcasses were found and disposed of within the city of Zhezkazgan and 2342 carcasses in the area of the city of Karazhal.
During these activities, employees of the territorial inspection of forestry and wildlife in the Ulytau region, the inspectorate of the State Enterprise ‘Okhotzooprom’, the department of emergency situations, as well as representatives of the akimats of the cities of Zhezkazgan and Karazhal jointly carried out the removal of carcasses to cattle burial grounds. For this, six units of special equipment were used in Zhezkazgan, as well as special equipment and 11 groups in Karazhal," the regional akimat reported.
The carcasses are disposed of in specialized cattle burial grounds, the department added. No mechanical damage was found on the remains.
On the fact of disposal, the commission members drew up and signed the relevant acts.
Work to collect the remains of saigas that died as a result of winter mortality and attacks by stray dogs will continue, the akimat added.
