Tengrinews.kz - A video claiming to show a missile submarine discovered in the Caspian Sea has been circulating on social media, citing Lada.kz.

The footage shows a long, rusted structure resembling a submarine and was shared widely across local Instagram communities.

However, Konarbay Bazarbayev, head of the Tupkaragan district fisheries inspection department, dismissed the claim as false.

“This is absolutely not a nuclear submarine. The video shows part of an old vessel—100 percent not a submarine. We regularly patrol the northern Caspian and come across many old ship fragments. As the sea level drops, wreckage that was previously submerged at depths of 5-7 meters is now visible in waters as shallow as 3 meters. Sunken barges and ships can now be seen on the surface,” Bazarbayev stated.

Local media note that this is not the first time such claims have surfaced. Lada.kz previously reported on another wreck in the Caspian, which was dubbed a "ghost ship" by social media users due to its eerie appearance.

Previously, an Aktau resident uncovered an old military flask in Mangystau.
