Tengrinews.kz – Rumors claiming that meat from dead saiga antelopes found in the Kurmangazy district of Atyrau region is being sold illegally for 13,000-15,000 tenge per carcass have been denied by the district's veterinary service, reports Atyrau Online.

The rumors sparked concern and outrage among local residents. However, no evidence has been presented to support these claims, according to the publication.

Authorities stated that all saiga carcasses discovered in the area were promptly disposed of in accordance with sanitary regulations.

Specialists from "Okhotzooprom" and the district veterinary station conducted raids to collect the remains of the animals, ensuring that none of the carcasses entered the market. Officials continue to monitor the situation.

Earlier, videos showing dying saiga antelopes in the West Kazakhstan region circulated online, raising fears among citizens of a potential mass die-off of the animals.
