Tengrinews.kz – Messages containing threats of attacks on the city’s educational institutions have appeared in one of the Telegram channels in Shymkent. The information is rapidly spreading in messengers and chats, according to OTYRAR.
The posts include photographs of weapons, as well as a list of city schools where, according to the authors, terrorist attacks are allegedly being planned. The lists contain the numbers of dozens of educational institutions.
The police have begun investigative measures and urged citizens not to trust the false messages being circulated.
“The police are conducting a review, all security measures have been strengthened. The situation is under control. For spreading false reports about planned crimes, the law provides for punishment of up to five years’ imprisonment,” the city police department commented.
