Tengrinews.kz - Will the second nuclear power plant (NPP) in Kazakhstan be built simultaneously with the first? Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev answered this question.
According to the minister, given the projected energy deficit, Kazakhstan needs to accelerate the introduction of new energy capacities.
"The nuclear cluster creates opportunities to introduce new capacities and reduce the carbon footprint, thereby fulfilling our commitments to the 'green' agenda. In this regard, I believe that the implementation of parallel construction projects is possible. We have the necessary resources. Construction will be carried out at different sites. So, overall, this scenario is feasible," said Almasadam Satkaliyev at a government briefing.
Today, during an expanded government meeting, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government to identify locations for the second NPP.
