Tengrinews.kz – A Kazakh passenger sparked a midair scandal on a Qazaq Air flight from Astana to Novosibirsk, assaulting flight attendants and disrupting the flight.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman appeared intoxicated and behaved aggressively toward the crew.
“A Kazakh woman on the Astana–Novosibirsk flight got into a fight with the flight attendants. She was yelling, swearing, and making threats. The plane almost had to turn back because of her,” a passenger told Tengrinews.kz, sharing a video of the incident.
Airline statement
Qazaq Air confirmed the incident, stating that the passenger attacked crew members after being refused an additional serving of alcohol.
“On October 20, during flight Astana–Novosibirsk, a passenger in a state of alcohol intoxication assaulted flight attendants after being denied another alcoholic beverage,” the airline said.
Upon landing in Novosibirsk, the woman was met by police officers.
The company reminded that passengers who violate onboard safety rules may be blacklisted from future air travel and face administrative or criminal liability, including possible imprisonment.
Police response
Kazakhstan’s Transport Police Department confirmed that a criminal case has been opened against the 27-year-old passenger on charges of hooliganism aboard an aircraft.
“During the flight from Astana to Novosibirsk, the woman violated public order and caused bodily harm to a flight attendant. A pre-trial investigation is underway,” the department said.
