Tengrinews.kz - Vice Minister of Finance Yerzhan Birzhanov announced that the draft of the new Tax Code includes a provision to exempt individuals from mandatory tax declarations.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Senate, Birzhanov explained that Form No. 250 — the so-called initial declaration — is submitted only once and does not need to be resubmitted.
"Only Form 270 is required — by September 15 — if there were any changes or acquisitions during the year," he explained.
According to the Vice Minister, 87 percent of purchases in Kazakhstan are made via cashless payments, which allows tax authorities to automatically access all necessary data.
"That’s why the decision was made: individuals who do not calculate their taxes themselves will be exempt from filing declarations. Their tax obligations are already fulfilled by employers or agents. We receive reports on every employee and store this data. If someone doesn’t file a declaration, we can see it. There’s no need to force these 8 million people to submit reports," the Vice Minister concluded.
Earlier, during the extended Senate session on the draft of the new Tax Code, deputies proposed lowering the threshold for mandatory registration for value-added tax (VAT).
