Vice Minister of Transport and Communications Mereke Pshembayev has promised that the new road “Western Europe – Western China” will be fully equipped with roadside infrastructure, Tengrinews correspondent reports.

"This road is boosting businesses, including the projects related to road infrastructure. This involves construction of camping sites, cafes, motels and so on. We have developed a draft resolution establishing type A, B and C standards depending on traffic intensity that will govern the layout of camping grounds and gas stations, even toilets, along the road. Today it is a problem, you know. Even shower rooms will be constructed. We are developing these programs together with the akimats [local administration offices], and the implementation has already started," Pshembaev said at the briefing on July 25, 2014.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has repeatedly spoke about the need to build commercial property along the Western Europe - Western China road.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov also spoke about this. Back in 2011 he addressed the governor of Zhambyl Oblast: "There will be a large flow of traffic along the road that will go from Khorgas to Europe and back. This concerns not only you, but also all the Oblasts the road passes through, but your Oblast in particular. You have a lot of entrepreneurs living in the area. Gas stations, campings and other infrastructure can be built here, so pay attention to it."
